Wondering if it’s possible to share someone else’s story to your Facebook story? Not sure how to do this? Check out the instructions in my today’s post. 🙂
Is it possible to share someone else’s story on Facebook?
Sharing someone else’s story to your Facebook story is absolutely possible. What’s more, it can be done within the platform itself, installing external applications or taking screenshots is not necessary.
Users can share both friends’ stories and company profiles’ stories. In addition, it is not only possible to share stories of other profiles, but also to edit them. All these options are available in the interface of Facebook itself.
How do I share someone’s story on Facebook? Step-by-step instructions
Sharing other people’s stories is only possible from the mobile app. This will not be done using a computer or browser.
To share someone else’s story to your Facebook story, follow these steps:
- open the Facebook application on your phone,
- open the story of the selected person or company profile,
- click the arrow icon at the bottom of the screen,
- click the blue ‘Share now’ button.
As I mentioned earlier, in addition to just sharing other people’s stories on Facebook, it is also possible to edit them beforehand. As part of the editing, we can add various effects such as stickers, gifs, drawings, captions, and even music.
To edit another person’s story before sharing it, follow steps 1-3 from the previous instructions and then, instead of the blue button, select ‘Edit and share to your story’. You will then see options on the right to add various effects. Once you have finished editing, click the blue ‘Share’ button at the bottom.
For what purpose do you share other people’s stories and is it worth it?
If you are running a Facebook profile for commercial purposes, adding other people’s content – posts and stories – can bring you many benefits. First and foremost, it allows us to diversify our content and save time. By sharing other creators’ publications, we do not have to spend as much time creating our content. We can also be sure that our audience will constantly see activities on our profile, so they will not be bored.
Some profiles rely almost exclusively on sharing other people’s content, making only minor edits or adding comments.
When sharing stories and posts by others on Facebook, always remember to credit the author. Every creation is protected by copyright. The question of the legality of sharing other people’s content is another thing worth discussing.
Is it legal to share someone else’s story on Facebook?
According to Facebook’s Terms of Use, by publishing content on the site, you grant Meta a licence to use it. Publications may be distributed, modified, reproduced, translated, played or displayed publicly.
However, this does not mean that the author loses copyright in them. Although you can use other people’s publications on Facebook, you cannot attribute authorship to them. When sharing other people’s stories, you should always credit the source. You must also stick to the other Facebook rules and not modify other people’s publications to create offensive content.
I believe that before publishing another person’s story, it is worth asking them to do so. Usually, creators don’t mind sharing their content. This is because it allows them to reach a wider audience. However, it is nevertheless a good idea to obtain the official consent of the author of the story to share it, as well as to modify it. Whether or not we are obliged to do so by Facebook standards.
In summary, sharing someone else’s story on Facebook is possible, simple, and legal. However, before sharing other creators’ content, it is always a good idea to ask them for permission.
